Your well-being is our top priority. Here's how to stay safe on and off the app.
Whether you are navigating the dating world as a civilian or balancing it with the intense demands of being a first responder, your safety is non-negotiable. FireMatch provides robust in-app tools and guidelines to ensure you feel secure every step of the way.
In-App Safety Tools
Unmatch
Changed your mind? You can unmatch someone at any time. Once you unmatch, you will disappear from each other's match lists and they will no longer be able to message you.
Block
If someone makes you uncomfortable, block them. They won't be notified, but they will never be able to view your profile or contact you again on FireMatch.
Report
See something suspicious? A fake badge, harassment, or a scam? Report it immediately. Our moderation team reviews reports 24/7 to keep the community safe.
Real-World Dating Tips
Taking things offline? Follow these best practices before meeting someone in person for the first time.
-
Meet in Public For your first few dates, meet in a populated, public place—never at your home, their home, or an isolated location.
-
Control Your Transportation Always have control over how you get to and from the date. Drive yourself, take a rideshare, or use public transit so you can leave whenever you want.
-
Tell a Friend Let a trusted friend or family member know who you are meeting, where you are going, and when you plan to be back. Consider sharing your live location with them.
-
Never Send Money Never wire money or share financial information with someone you meet online, no matter how compelling their emergency sounds. Report anyone who asks.
OPSEC & Professional Safety
If you are a first responder or military service member, remember your training. Do not share exact locations of your station, base, or hospital with a match until you have built trust. Be careful about posting photos that reveal secure areas, sensitive equipment, or department schedules.
